Biography
Margrett (Meg) Sorensen is a senior at Pittsford Mendon High School. She began her musical experience with piano lessons in the first grade and added the study of viola the summer after third grade. She started viola lessons with Elizabeth Seka, and presently studies with Melissa Matson, both members of the RPO. She is first chair in her high school orchestra and principal violist of the Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra where she has been a member of the orchestra for four years. At Hochstein, Meg also played for two seasons with the Virtuosi Scholarship Chamber Orchestra, was a participant in the conducting apprentice program, and was a member of an Honor String Quartet during the 2007-2008 season.. She has regularly particpated in All County and Area All State Orchestras and was selected as an alternate for the 2007 Conference All State. Meg is an excellent student and her other interests include reading and writing, both of which she combines as an editor of Pittsford Mendon's literary magazine, "Valhalla."
She will be attending Brigham Young University on scholarship as she prepares for a career in writing and publishing. As a "violist looking for a quartet" she also hopes to create meaningful musical opportunites for herself.
